Frequently Asked Question

Some figures/characters are not visible in student submission
Last Updated 2 years ago

If you open the PDF file, which was annotated using a third-party app (e.g. some cloud storage application or email client which use simple PDF viewer) and do not see the edits, this means that the third-party app you use might not support all the advanced features supported by PDF Expert and this app does not display edits. For example, its PDF viewer does not display annotations or PDF form's data you filled in while the annotations and PDF form's data remain in the file.

There are two ways to cope with the issue:

1. When you open the file in a third-party app and do not see the edits, transfer the file to the advanced PDF editor app (e.g. PDF Expert 6, our free Documents 6, or Adobe Reader) to see all your edits and keep on working with a file. On your iOS device, tap the Actions button

and choose 'Copy to PDF Expert' to transfer the file.

2. After you finish editing the file in PDF Expert, save the file as a Flattened copy and send it by email or save to the cloud storage app. This way, any third-party app will display edits.

Flattening is a process of applying all annotations, form data and markups to a PDF. No changes can be made to annotations or form data after the flattening.

Flattened PDF files are used:

● When you need to apply all annotations to a PDF in order to prevent further modification.

● To complete the form.

● To apply a signature.

● To make annotations viewable in simple PDF readers.
